Contribution of woody elements to tree level reflectance in boreal forests

چکیده
Spectral mixture analysis was used to estimate the contribution of woody elements tree level reflectance from airborne hyperspectral data in boreal forest stands Finland. Knowledge or is important context lea area index (LAI) estimation and, e.g., defoliation due insect outbreaks, remote sensing data. Field measurements four Scots pine ( L.), five Norway spruce (L.) Karst.) and birch Roth Ehrh.) dominated plots, spectral needles, leaves, bark, floor, as well laser scanning were together with a physically-based model. We compared results based on simple linear combinations measured bark needle/leaf spectra those obtained by accounting for multiple scattering radiation within canopy using The floor additionally considered. resulted mean element estimates varied 0.140 0.186 pine, 0.116 0.196 birches 0.090 0.095 spruce, depending model used. had weak connection plot variables.Pinus sylvestrisPicea abiesBetula pendulaBetula pubescens

Characterizing woodland caribou habitat in sub-boreal and boreal forests
Woodland caribou (Rangifer tarandus caribou) are sensitive to changes in understory vegetation resulting from forest harvesting and are, therefore, of special concern for foresters and habitat biologists. Effective management of this species requires reliable habitat inventories which, because of the large heterogeneous areas over which caribou range, can be costly. We used Landsat Thematic Map...
متن کاملCharcoal Reflectance Reveals Early Holocene Boreal Deciduous Forests Burned at High Intensities
Wildfire size, frequency, and severity are increasing in the Alaskan boreal forest in response to climate warming. One of the potential impacts of this changing fire regime is the alteration of successional trajectories, from black spruce to mixed stands dominated by aspen, a vegetation composition not experienced since the early Holocene. Such changes in vegetation composition may consequently...
متن کاملcontribution of setting to the study of characters and the main idea in e. brontes: wuthering heights and t. hardys: return of the native.
this thesis aims to adduce an unmitigated and comprehensive explication concerning the relationship of three significant elements of fiction: setting, chracter and theme. my research is basically placed on two outstanding novels of the 19th century: emily brontes wuthering heights and thomas hardys return of the native. my endeavour lies in studying the correlation among the three above-mention...
15 صفحه اولRetrieval of seasonal dynamics of forest understory reflectance from semiarid to boreal forests using MODIS BRDF data
Spatial and temporal patterns of forest background (understory) reflectance are crucial for retrieving biophysical parameters of forest canopies (overstory) and subsequently for ecosystem modeling. In this communication, we retrieved seasonal courses of understory normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) from multiangular Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer bidirectional reflecta...
متن کاملLichen Diversity on Stems, Slash and Stumps in Managed Boreal Forests Impact of Whole-tree Harvest
The shortage and low diversity of coarse dead wood in managed forests are major threats to wood living organisms. Increasing harvest of slash and stumps for biofuel may further decrease the amounts of dead wood. The aim of this thesis was to predict the impact of forest fuel harvest on lichen diversity in a managed forest landscape. First, lichen diversity was compared between the stem and slas...
